IT-Pools

The IT pools at the Mechanical Engineering Garbsen campus of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover are intended for use in research and teaching. In particular, practical exercises with a direct link to research as well as to courses at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering can be carried out with the available equipment. The IT pools are primarily used for courses with a large number of participants. The pools can be used by students for study purposes at times when no courses are taking place. The specific usage options are regulated by the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the system administration or the staff on site.

Registration via the IDM of Leibniz Universität Hannover is required for use within a course as well as for other study purposes. You will need your LUH ID and the corresponding password. We will then automatically receive your user access data from the IDM.

As soon as these have been processed by our server, you will receive an e-mail from our system to confirm the activation of your account - you can then start using the IT pools.

The usage regulations of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering linked here apply to the use of the IT pools, which you must accept.

Please note that your chosen password, which you enter in LUIS, must comply with the Windows security guidelines. This means that the password must consist of the 4 quantities: Upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers and special characters, must contain 3 sets - no matter how long the password is. In addition, the password set at LUIS cannot be reused, as the Windows server remembers the last passwords to ensure sufficient security.

You are forced to change the password entered with LUIS the first time you log in under Windows, as LUIS transmits the plain passwords to us in a text file via an encrypted connection and we could therefore at least theoretically know your password.
