Pre- and specialised internship

Pre-internship

In the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering programme, you must complete a so-called pre-study internship. The eight-week pre-study internship is mandatory, but must be successfully completed by the time you register for the compulsory elective modules from the fifth semester onwards, which means you can also use the semester break for your internship.

However, it would be best if you have already completed the internship before you start your degree programme in order to gain a basic understanding of the course content and prevent time bottlenecks during your studies. The areas of activity to be covered are set out in the internship regulations.

Specialised internship

You can complete the twelve-week specialist internship as part of your Bachelor's degree programme or in a subsequent Master's degree programme. If you decide to do the internship in the Master's programme, you will have to choose further in-depth elective modules instead.
