Double Degree Programmes

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offers you various worldwide double degree agreements. These programs offer qualified students the opportunity to obtain two degrees in parallel: the Master of Science at Leibniz University Hannover and the corresponding degree from the partner university. The full recognition of all study and examination achievements achieved abroad is coordinated and guaranteed from the outset. The aim of the Double Degree Programmes is to integrate the strengths of the study programmes offered by the respective cooperation partners into the jointly structured programme.

    Double degree program with Keio University in Japan

    If you are studying mechanical engineering and would like to add an international component to your studies, the Double Degree Programme with Keio-University in Japan offers you the opportunity to both complete your studies at Leibniz University Hannover and to get to know the study system and life at one of the renowned technical universities in Japan. After completion of the internationally oriented studies, you will receive a double degree from Leibniz University Hannover and Keio University and thus have a special qualification that will have a significant positive influence on your further professional career and enrich you personally.

    Procedure

    They complete the first two master's semesters at LUH with 60 LPs. Afterwards you will continue your studies at Keio University. You will study for 2 years at Keio University and after successful completion you will receive the Master of Science degree from Keio University and after your return you will also receive the Master degree from Leibniz University Hannover. Since the exchange program is part of the T.I.M.E. (Top Industrial Managers of Europe) exchange, you are exempt from tuition fees of the partner university.

    Application process

    You apply with the following application documents to the exchange coordinator of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering by 31.12. of each year

    • Language certificate

    Energy Technology, M. Sc.

    The sector of Energy Technology is increasingly characterized by international and multinational collaborations. Thus, besides the technical expertise international experience is demanded. The master‘s degree programme Energy Technology is offered to meet these arising requirements of internationality. Technical expertise is taught in an international environment. The programme is designed to give a highly qualified specialisation in the field of Energy Technology. It is offered in English language by

    • Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany in cooperation with
    • Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology, Finland.


    Start of study

    The study programme will start on 1st September each year. The 1st year takes place in Lappeenranta, the 2nd year in Hannover.

    Dates

    • April 15th – May 31st of the year for the winter semester


    Language requirements

    • Required: English C1
    • Not required but recommended: German or Finnish language skills.

    Double Degree Program with Purdue University, USA

    The Master Student Exchange Program is a cooperative agreement between Leibniz University Hannover and Purdue University in West Lafayette, USA. Purdue University is one of the most renowned universities in the USA, especially in the field of engineering sciences. It is characterized by a broad range of subjects and is particularly active in aerospace engineering. It does not matter in which area you would like to deepen your knowledge, as the choice of modules and recognition is handled flexibly. The exchange is only possible in the winter semester. After your stay in the USA you have the opportunity to obtain a non-thesis Master's degree from Purdue University. At the same time, after your return and completion of your Master's thesis, you will receive the Master's degree from Leibniz University of Hannover. This will give you an outstanding qualification that will have a significant positive influence on your further professional career and enrich you personally.

    Procedure

    You will study the first year of your Master's degree at LUH and will earn 60 credit points. In the second year you will go to Purdue for the fall and spring semester. There you can complete a total of 21 credit hours and write a project thesis. Afterwards you will receive a non thesis Master degree from Purdue University and return to Leibniz University Hannover to write your thesis.

    - a pre-selection according to the admission criteria of the University of Purdue is made by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in cooperation with the HI

    • Letter of motivation (1-2 pages, in English language)
    • Language certificate (TOEFL test or IELTS test)
    • Certificate and/or grade sheet of the examination office (in English)
    • Copy of the passport
    • Printout of the LUH online application (this does not need to be signed by a coordinator)
    • 3 letters of reference (from 3 different lecturers) in English: These are to be sent by the lecturers directly to Ms Karen Suarez, M. A. by e-mail or university post.
